About 3Degrees of Connection

Transcending Spaces: 3Degrees of Connection is rooted in my experience as a textile designer and frequent traveler. The discomfort of navigating public environments sparked a deeper exploration of how materials and space can offer not only comfort, but also a quiet sense of connection. This project is built on the belief that textiles have the power to transcend their traditional role and actively shape how we feel and engage within a space.

At its core is a series of 3D modular hanging panels and wall coverings, created using textile techniques applied to unconventional materials such as acetate. These panels bring texture, dimension, and color to rigid surfaces, transforming spaces like airport lounges, hotel lobbies, open offices, and transitional areas into environments that feel more thoughtful, more human.

The design invites a gentle interaction between transparency, reflection, and layering, creating semi-private zones that preserve openness while offering a sense of personal space. It allows for a balance between stillness and movement, intimacy and presence, ideal for flexible workplaces, co-working environments, and any space where people gather, pause, or pass through.

By using textile logic on non-traditional substrates, this work introduces a tactile language that’s both modular and adaptable. It offers flexibility, visually and physically, opening up new ways to respond to the shifting needs of public and professional interiors.

Ultimately, Transcending Spaces reimagines how we move through and relate to shared environments. It’s a study in designing for quiet impact, for moments of pause, for flexibility within activity, and for the ways materials can help shape spaces that feel both personal and shared.
